Saudi Arabia completes housing, schools, BHUs projects in Quake-Hit areas

Octomer 7th, 2011: Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victims (SPAPEV) has completed various projects to facilitate the people affected by 2005 earthquake. These projects include 8000 houses, 28 schools, and 8-fully equipped Basic Health Units.

The task of the construction of 8,000 houses had been completed for the settlement of displaced families of Balakot, Muzaffarabad and Bagh.

The SPAPEV had also completed 28 schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for thousands of children who were studying under the open sky after the disaster of October 8, 2005 earthquake. As many as 8-Basic Health Units have also been completed in quake-ravaged areas to facilitate the people living in remote villages of Abbottabad, Balakot and Muzaffarabad districts.

The buildings are modern, earthquake-resistant and environmentally-friendly structures with the facility of water and electricity supply. The facilities are well-equipped with furniture and medical equipment. The BHUs vary in size from 2-4 blocks, with up to 21 rooms facility. Facilities in each BHU include a dispensary, waiting and examination rooms; wardroom, family planning area, and laboratory.

Addressing a ceremony organized by SPAPEV in honor of Electronic and Print Media persons for playing their significant role in highlighting the relief and rehabilitation efforts made by Saudi Arabia for Pakistani Earthquake-victims.

On the occasion, Jasim Al-Khaladi, Deputy Head of Saudi Mission said

We are thankful to Almighty Allah, for giving us the courage to bring back smiles on the faces of Earthquake affected population of Pakistan.

This is not the whole story but just a glimpse of commitment of Saudi Leadership to its Pakistani brethren


I will express my gratitude to the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz and His Royal Highness Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Interior, and General Supervisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque Campaign, for their kind patronage and guidance that lead to successful accomplishment of all the projects in time.


The current example of our fraternal relationship is the announcement of a relief campaign by Royal Highness Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, to distribute 5000 tents, 30,000 blankets, and 50,000 food baskets, in the recent flood affected areas of Sindh and Balochistan.

Addressing the function, Dr.Khalid M.Al-Othmani the Regional Director of SPAPEV, said that Saudi Arabia will remain stand with Pakistani brethren whenever they needed. This bond of relationships which are time tested and centuries old, will go a long way.

Brig. Wajid Raza, Chief of Staff ERRA, Dan Rohrman, Representative UNICEF, officials of ERRA, Directors of SPAPEV, Abdullah Al-Barak, Abdullah Al-Madauj and Fahad Al-Kahtani were also present on the occasion.

Later, Awards and Certificates were distributed among the Electronic and Print media persons.
